I’ve been running a advertisment in the Nola Levee, a wonderful satire rag that has a really good distrubition in New Orleans. My first few ads were very corporate, very professional, very wordy, boring but we still would get 1-2 people a month.
Recently it hit me that i can do literally whatever i feel like as far as marketing and advertising…if i gets approved by whoever i’m advertising with, then i’m going to do it. Take a look at our new ad.

disgusting…i know. i’ve made it my goal to finish up the last 3 projects on my plate this week or die trying. They have all been very patient and they are finally getting what they paid for. It’s nice to know something is perfect though.
I’m about to start on a dream project next week. This is a lock yourself up for a day and see what you can do type of site. I’m not going to give much out about it but it’s famous local resturant across the street from another famous resturant who has a full flash animated site. not a good one but i can see the appeal.
How they got in touch with me is a long story but when they said they wanted something that would compare to the competition i told them everything wrong competition’s site. Anyway, the design phase starts next week. Can’t wait to launch and it hasn’t even been designed.
You just have to get excited these days with gas prices, food prices, sur charges and fees, that sometimes people go “yeah i can’t cheap out on this or else i get what i pay for”.
Then i can get to really spend some time making it look cool.

With Jazzfest this weekend, we wanted to post some sites for you that we use on a daily basis.
Pandora.com
Pandora allows you to create a radio station based on a specific band. For example if you put in Supertramp, it would go back to it’s database and find bands that are similar to Supertramp and create a custom radio station for you. Pandora also has preset radio stations for other genres if you don’t feel like choosing a specific band.
PollStar.com
Pollstar is basically your end all source for concert schedules. House of Blues, Howlin Wolf, all the venues have their schedules listed. I check it every 2 weeks just to see which concerts and shows i need to put on my Outlook calendar. *grins*
neworleans.craigslist.org/tix/
Everyone knows about craigslist but a lot of people didn’t know you could buy concert tickets there. I’ve purchased tickets for a show that sold out in 4 hours for face venue from craigslist. If something is sold out somewhere most likely it’s not hopeless.

From time to time Bernie Cyrus of WGSO has me call in to discuss Internet and Web stuff. I have a terrible speaking voice but it’s always a blast. This was one of the funnier call ins. You can stream it from the link below or click on my direct mp3 download below.
Michael Fredrick of Point2Point Innovations called into Bernie to warn people about downloading things from the web.
You have to jump to about 2:12:10 to get to my part. It’s pretty funny, fairly educational.

point2point launched the new DewDropJazzHall.com and it looks like it got linked already. I don’t even consider the site fully launched but i don’t think that really matters to Nola.com apparently.
All music at the festival will be broadcast and videographed live, courtesy of WWOZ FM 90.7 radio, and streamed instantly worldwide through the station’s Web site. The festival also will mark the debut of the Friends of the Dew Drop Web site, www.dewdropjazzhall.com.
I wouldn’t feel right adding the Dew Drop’s site to the p2p portfolio without giving a serious nod to Dylan Wagner. He wrote some really solid CSS for this site in a turn around time and helped me turn what i had originally designed into much more quality site. The timeline on this site got accelerated by the festival’s launch date and i was already knee deep in design projects. I called Dylan and he came to the uptown p2p office and we had a design by the end of the evening.
I still do not consider the site finished at the moment. Lots of little things to implement, tweak, etc.

I have 3 really interesting projects launching in the next week, i can’t wait to link them here. i don’t link anything until i consider it “done” as far as p2p goes, it’s just hard not talking about it.
We laid out a proposal today for a site that would be our flagship in the portfolio. It’s hard to find people who want to pay for quality but i could tell in her eyes she understood the difference between the ford focus proposal and Cadillac proposal we laid in front of her…like Djay used to say in memphis:
If you want quality,
you have to pay for it.

This was a pretty typical day at point2point with Jackie unlocking my front door, asking if i am awake, making coffee and unpausing the music. It’s good to see someone pick up their role in p2p this quickly.
Things are going well, i have to say. I have more projects then time, I’ve pulled on Dylan full time to help me design, Jackie and Anne are both finding me and Dylan work…i told Jackie today that if we keep at this rate, 2009 is going to be the year of the point2point superbowl commercial….i’ve never felt more confident in this business plan…it seems like every other web company in the south and even america are ignoring the world around them and operating like it’s 1998.
it’s not.
sorry.
just try to catch up.

Meeting as many people, building as many sites. Registering more domains before breakfast then most web companies register all day.
I’ve got some really cool projects in the works, can’t wait to show them off.
